Invasion of vampires in Corvallis?

I went into the town to get some groceries earlier this week. This giant stsore I frequent normally has two huge boxes of garlic. The boxes were there, but they were both empty except for some feathery shells. When I asked produce guy if they had any garlic, he rolled his eyes, said he’d never seen anything like it. “We are NEVER out of garlic,” he said, “but we are today.”

The store was as busy as Thanksgiving with people stalking up in the middle of all of the cold weather. But garlic? I mentioned it to Ben. “Vampires,” was his response.

What do you think?

Definitely vampires. But if Corvalis has a sizable eastern European population, maybe the cooks needed it for stuffed cabbage or perhaps discouraging uncle Rudy from coming to visit?

Anything’s possible, I suppose, but I just thought it was an odd thing to be stocking up on in an ice storm.
