. . .and unlike the “angina monologues,” this isn’t even remotely in jest. Something on my system keeps starting a system process that requires 100% CPU utilization. I tried uninstalling IE 7 (even though I really like it). That didn’t fix the problem, but at least I have to only stop the process once.
I woke up this morning with a poem in my head. Now, this wouldn’t be totally remarkable except it was written (or heard) in the style of Robert Creeley, a poet I had to listen to dozens of times to start to comprehend. It’s the right style for the poem, but it’s completely unlike anything I’ve ever written before.
Do you suppose the apocalypse is near?
I’m writing this on an IE 6 browser, and I already hate it. I think I’m going to try reinstalling IE 7. I had to do that once before (2 months ago). Maybe Microsoft has fixed some of the glitches. . .

I love simple tools. Which reminds me….the blades on my push mower need to be sharpened!

Lisa, I hate to break it to you, but I’m totally unmechanical. I once stripped the gears in not one but two manual push mowers in one day (I may be unmechanical, but I have an incredible amount of upper body strength). The lawn mower repair guy said he’d never seen anything like it. It was not an entirely unfelicitous experience, as I was forbidden to ever mow the lawn again, which was OK with me.
Rabbit, I’m going off to post about this. I don’t know if its IE7 or all the little applications companies that aren’t quite as tightly linked to Microsoft as the larger companies. But I used to be a UNIX freak, and it’s starting to look better and better. I am somewhat deterred by the number of files I’d have to convert to .txt format. . .

Consider using Ubuntu. You wouldn’t have to convert your files, there are applications which are capable of reading most common formats.

Thought I’d provide a link for the Ubuntu Desktop Edition.
My main computer runs Ubuntu, but the power supply is broken and the motherboard is probably damaged as well, so I will need to spend money to fix it. In the meantime I’m using a MacBook which works very well.
Windows is dying, I think.
